Family Support
Working with Families
We recognise and value the important role played by families. We encourage parents and carers to play an active role in their child's education and ensure mutually supportive home-school links. Parents and carers are always welcome at Eagle House School.
You can expect us to -
- Value your child as an individual
- Provide a stimulating and motivating curriculum which encourages your child to reach their full potential
- Provide a safe, happy and caring environment for learning
- Ensure close communication with you through open and honest discussion
- Respect confidentiality and be non-judgemental
- Recognise the important role you play in your child's education
- Provide you with regular information about your child's progress
We expect parents and carers to -
- Share your concerns with us
- Be honest and open
- Ensure your child's regular attendance at school
- Attend progress meetings and annual reviews about your child
- Support the teaching team and agree to undertake any home/school learning
- Actively support the school's policies and guidelines for behaviour
We strive to keep our parents and carers informed and involved.
We achieve this by providing:
- Our home/school book system which allows a two-way flow of information between parents and school. We will share the excitement of new skills learnt in school and equally encourage your child to share these achievements with you through the use of photographs. Our aim is to make your child feel able to communicate their success and feel proud of their achievements. Similarly it allows you to tell us about events that may have happened at home.
- Our fortnightly school newsletter 'The Eyrie' is sent home to all parents and carers providing up to date news and information on school events and activities
- Access to our Multi Disciplinary Team for support and advice on issues you may be experiencing at home. Our Psychologists, Speech and Language Therapists and Occupational Therapist are always happy to help and support our parents and carers.
- Attendance at both formal and informal review meetings where parents and carers can look at their child's work and discuss progress and targets
- Making our school policies freely available to parents at any time
- Providing Parental Training and Workshops twice per term on a range of issues that are of interest to our families. The workshops are an opportunity to meet with our clinical staff, hear from guest speakers and to share a coffee with other parents and carers.
- Access to our Group Development/Parent Liaison Team, who are able to provide advice and information to parents and carers on a range of issues including strategies for home, services for children with Autistic Spectrum Disorders, the Statutory Assessment process etc. Our Group Development Team (Carrie and Julia) can be contacted on 0845 0742972 email carrie.haslett@eaglehousegroup.co.uk
