Harry's Family Story
"Our son was excluded from a specialist school and it was difficult to know what on earth to do next!"
Many of our families and their children experience emotional trauma prior to their child entering Eagle House School. Here is an insight into the story of Harry and his family:
"Our son was excluded from a specialist school and it was difficult to know what on earth to do next! Eagle House School (Mitcham) was the answer for us as the staff worked with our son as an individual and didn't expect him to conform to a uniform model."
She continues: " As a result he has made more progress than we ever anticipated. The school is a very positive place where my son feels welcomed and cared for. There is always an open line of communication with us as parents and as a result we feel our son is in a loving and supportive environment."
Many families can feel unsupported and misunderstood especially if home life becomes challenging. Parents/carers can feel isolated with home issues they may be facing. Harry's Mum continues:
"The ability to have help and support at home, such as providing programmes to help us manage Harry's behaviours, has been so helpful. The support network for parents is always there and staff are always willing to listen and give us advice."
Zach's Family Story
"We had a long struggle to find an appropriate place for Zach"
Many children have difficult experiences in their previous schools and this can leave lasting effects. Zach's family share their story with us....
"My son has recenlty started attending Eagle House School (Mitcham). We had a long struggle to find an appropriate place for Zach but it was great that on his first day he turned to us and said "I like my new school Mum!". We have noticed that he is much calmer and although he still asks us a 1000 questions every day (mainly about movies - his special interest!), we are working on this together. It has been such a relief to find the right school and to finally feel a little more relaxed again. Zach is where he should be."
Placed within the right school, our children can begin to grow in confidence and experienced greater self esteem through our positive approach to teaching. When a child experiences anxiety we can spot it immediately and take steps to reduce it leaving our children with the room they need to learn.
We would like to thank our families for submitting snapshots in to their stories.
