Working Together with Families

Girl with piggy bank at Asperger Schools

At Eagle House School we recognise and value the important role played by families and encourage parents/carers to play an active part in their child's education. We create mutually supportive home-school links and ensure parents/carers always feel welcome and able to come and see us at School.

You can expect us to:-

  • Value your child as an individual
  • Provide a stimulating and motivating curriculum which encourages your child to reach their full potential
  • Provide a safe, happy and caring environment for learning
  • Ensure close communication with you through open and honest discussion
  • Respect confidentiality and be non-judgemental
  • Recognise the important role you play in your child's education
  • Provide you with regular information about your child's progress

We ask parents/carers to:-

  • Share your concerns with us
  • Be honest and open
  • Ensure your child's regular attendance at school
  • Attend progress meetings and annual reviews about your child
  • Support the teaching team and agree to undertake any home/school learning
  • Actively support the school's policies and guidelines for behaviour

We strive to keep our parents/carers informed and involved. We achieve this by:-

  • providing a home/school book system which allows a two-way flow of information between parents/carers and school
  • sharing the excitement of new skills learnt in school
  • encourage your child to share these achievements with you through the use of photographs
  • aiming to make your child feel able to communicate their successes and feel proud of their achievements
  • allowing you to tell us about events that may have happened at home
  • sending our fortnightly newsletter 'The Eyrie' home to all parents/carers providing up to date school news, information, events and activities
  • offering you access to our multidisciplinary Team for support and advice on issues you may be experiencing at home
  • offering support from our psychologists, speech and language therapists and occupational therapists who are always happy to help
  • your attendance at both formal and informal review meetings where parents/carers can look at their child's work and discuss progress and targets
  • Making our school policies freely available to parents/carers at any time
  • providing regular training and workshops for parents/carers on a range of issues that are of interest
  • arranging workshops providing an opportunity to meet our clinical staff, hear from guest speakers and to share a coffee with other parents/carers

"Pupils are very well cared for and all parents agree that their children like the school" OFSTED 2008
